Taxpayers Face Billions in Obamacare Judgements

In February the U.S. Court of Claims ordered the federal government to pay $214 million to a small Oregon insurer based on its participation in the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. Moda Health had enthusiastically participated in Obamacare health insurance exchanges only to nearly go out of business. They participated based on a promise by the Obama Administration that it would provide financial support under the “risk corridor program” to companies that lose money insuring unhealthy patients. Moda Health participated and lost money, but then the government refused to fully reimburse it.

Americans Recognize Disaster of Obamacare

A poll conducted in February 2016 by the liberal NPR – who pushed Obamacare for years - found that only 15% of those polled said they were personally benefited or helped by Obamacare, while 26% said they were directly harmed by the law.

Obamacare Repeal Is on the Way

As soon as the newly-elected Congress was gaveled to order in January, both houses got to work on the long-promised effort to “repeal and replace” the failed legislation known as Obamacare. The Senate, with its more cumbersome rules, began 50 hours of debate on a budget resolution that will eventually repeal much of the law by reconciliation, which requires only a simple majority of 51 Senators.
